Cheryl A. (Switzer) Merkt, 68, of Enfield, entered into Eternal Life on Thursday May 4, 2017 in the comfort of her home. Cheryl was born on Dec. 17, 1948 in Newark, NY to the late Maurice and Phyllis (Murphy) Switzer and resided in Enfield for the past 42 years and in Syracuse, NY before that. She received her Bachelor’s Degree from Syracuse University. Cheryl was the owner of Country Artist Art Distributor for 29 years, having retired over 5 years ago. She was a member of the Academic Artists Assoc. and the Tobacco Valley Art Assoc. Cheryl was a volunteer and organizer with local Art Associations and volunteer at St. Martha Church with parish activities.
Cheryl is survived by her husband of 45 years Albert Merkt, as well as her four children; David Merkt of Manchester, Thomas Merkt & wife Janene of Jackson, WY, Elizabeth Merkt of Enfield and Robert Merkt of Enfield. She is also survived by a sister, Deborah Dougherty of New Hartford, NY, along with many nieces, nephew, aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.
Her family will receive relatives and friends on Wed. May 10, 2017 from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. at Browne Memorial Funeral Chapels, Enfield. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday May 11, 2017 in St. Martha Church 214 Brainard Rd. Enfield (meet at church). Burial will follow in the Hazardville Cemetery.
