Marianne (Houghtaling) Holmes, 70, of Feeding Hills, MA, entered into eternal rest on Wednesday Feb. 1, 2017 at Baystate Medical Ctr., Springfield, MA. She was born on Aug. 19, 1946 in Springfield, MA to the late Earl and Elinor (Wieland) Houghtaling. She had resided in Feeding Hills for the past 10 years and in W. Springfield before that. Marianne’s life revolved around caring for her family of which she enjoyed spending time with, especially her children, grandchildren and friends. She also loved to write poems some of which were published, also loved camping, boating and sitting by the fire.
Marianne is survived by her husband of 40 years Richard Holmes, her children; James Grimaldi & Karan Wesson of Feeding Hills, Melanie Poirier & husband Shawn of Feeding Hills, William Grimaldi & Laura Rider of Agawam and Jennifer Holmes & Joe Savageau of Springfield, MA, her six beloved grandchildren; Michael Grimaldi, Ashley Grimaldi, Tyler Harris, Kyle Gokey, Bryanna Gokey and Abigail Savageau, three great grandchildren; Skylee Aube, Carter Grimaldi-Gould and Lily Ann Grimaldi. She is also survived by a brother Alan Houghtaling & wife Debbie of Feeding Hills and a sister Karen Gordon & husband Bill of Enfield, and two nephews Alan, Jr. and Scott Houghtaling, many cousins and friends.
Relatives and friends may gather with her family during calling hours on Saturday Feb. 18, 2017 from 1:00 to 3:00 p.m. at Browne Memorial Funeral Chapels, 43 Shaker Rd. Enfield, CT. Burial will be at the convenience of the family. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to the American Cancer Society 30 Speen St. Framingham, MA 01701.
