Obituary for Richard "Dick" F. McLaughlin

Richard "Dick"  F.  McLaughlin
Richard “Dick” F. McLaughlin, 84, of Enfield, entered in to Eternal Rest on Tuesday August 22, 2017 at St. Francis Hospital & Medical Ctr. He was the beloved husband of 46 years to the late Faith E. (Hodge) McLaughlin. Richard was born on Oct. 25, 1932 in Springfield, MA to the late John E. and Angela (Wright) McLaughlin and had resided in Enfield for the past 59 years and in Springfield before that. He was a graduate of Springfield Technical H.S.
Prior to retiring Dick was employed with Peerless Tool & Machine Co., Inc. in Enfield, CT. for many years. He was a devoted member of the Enfield Public Library. In his leisure time Dick enjoyed, listening to Jazz music, golfing, the Red Sox were his favorite team, his favorite baseball player was his grandson, William Zawilinski, and UCONN Women’s Basketball fan.
Dick is survived by his two children; Lisa Zawilinski & husband David of W. Granby, CT, and Michael McLaughlin of Key Largo, FL, his beloved grandson William Zawilinski and several nieces and nephews. Besides his wife and parents, he was predeceased by his brother John McLaughlin.
His family would especially like to thank the nurses and doctors at St. Francis Hospital’s MS-ICU for their professional and compassionate care and attention given to Dick.
Funeral Services for Richard will be held on Friday August 25, 2017 at 11:30 a.m. with Fr. John Melnick officiating at Browne Memorial Funeral Chapels, Enfield. Burial will follow in the Hazardville Cemetery. His family will receive relatives and friends from 9:30 a.m. until the time of the service. Memorial donations in his memory may be made to St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place Memphis, TN 38105-1942.
