Obituary for Bernice M. Wood

Bernice M. (Jacobs) Wood, 90, predeceased by the love of her life, Nello J. Perusi, died peacefully at Suffield House on Saturday, May 27, 2017, surrounded by her loving family. Born in Torrington, Connecticut, Bernice was the daughter of the late Edward M. and Jenny F. (Lambert) Jacobs. She was a graduate of Torrington High School. A longtime resident of Norwalk, Bernice worshipped at the Saugatuck Congregational Church in Wesport. Bernice is survived by her loving daughter, Donna Porter and her husband, Michael of Vero Beach, FL; her grandchildren, Michele Irish and her husband, Scott, Michael Stone and his wife, Loriann, Todd Porter, and Heather Porter and her companion, Michael Corbin; five great grandchildren, Matthew Stone, Megan O’Brien, and her fiance, Thomas Frankovic, Kevin O’Brien, Amanda Stone and Marissa Stone; two great great grandchildren, Evan Porter and Reiley Frankovic; and her brother Michael Jacobs and his wife, Faye of Torrington. She was predeceased by her three brothers, Russell, Marci and Edward and her two sisters, Shirley and Esther. A Memorial Service in celebration of Bernice’s life will be held on Saturday, June 3, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. at Browne Memorial Funeral Chapels, 43 Shaker Road, Enfield, CT 06082. At the request of the family there are no calling hours. The family would like to express their heartfelt gratitude to The Suffield House for their compassionate care. Memorial donations may be made Masonicare Hospice of East Hartford.
