Shawn Patrick  Jean
Shawn Patrick Jean, of Plainville, CT, passed from his earthly journey with loved ones at his side, at the age of 40, on Wednesday January 18, 2017 at St. Francis Hospital after a courageous battle with cancer. He was born on November 30, 1976 in Rockville/Vernon, CT, the son of Joseph and Sharon (Rooney) Jean of Enfield and beloved father of Brayden and Teagan Jean. He resided most of his life in Enfield and in Southington for 12 years. Shawn was a graduate of Enfield H.S., and he played football and baseball. He then went on to join the Air National Guard and served in the Gulf War. Shawn received his Bachelor Degree from CCSU and played on the Hooligan Rugby Team, and was known as “Flintstone” by his teammates. Shawn enjoyed a 13-year career with The Hartford, completed his MBA at the University of Hartford, he also worked at the Outback Steakhouse. Shawn coached youth football and baseball. He was an avid Red Sox and N.E. Patriots fan.
Besides his parents and children, Shawn is survived by his siblings; Scott Jean & his wife Kate of Plainville, Courtney Jean & husband Eric Kallberg of Madison, and Connor Jean of Bloomfield, along with many aunts, uncles, cousins and dear friends. He was predeceased by his paternal grandparents, Joseph and Jeanette Jean and maternal grandparents, William and Evelyn Rooney.
Relatives and friends may gather with his family during calling hours on Sunday Jan. 22, 2017 from 2:00 to 5:00 p.m. at Browne Memorial Funeral Chapels, Enfield. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday Jan. 23. 2017 in St. Bernard Church 426 Hazard Ave. Enfield at 10:00 a.m. (meeting at church). Interment will follow in St. Patrick’s King Street Cemetery, Enfield. The family has requested memorial donations in his memory be made to the Brayden and Teagan Jean Fund, C/O First National Bank, Attn: Jackie Guzie, 6 National Dr. Windsor Locks, CT 06096.
