Obituary for Edward J. "Ed" Moskal

Edward J. "Ed" Moskal
Edward J. Moskal, of Enfield, peacefully entered into eternal rest at the age of 98, on Tuesday Dec. 20, 2016. He was the beloved husband of 63 years to Stella (Dojka) Moskal who predeceased him in 2011. Edward was born on July 27, 1918 in Ludlow, MA the son of the late Peter and Sophie (Szaban) Moskal. He grew up in the Indian Orchard section of Springfield, and after attending trade school began working at the Package Machinery Co. for a few years.
Ed honorably served with the US Navy during WW II aboard the destroyer USS Dortch. He thereafter became such a prolific machinist that he was specially selected to build the main valve for the atomic submarine by the Chapman Valve Co., where he worked for 45 years. His retirement years (for this avid Red Sox and Patriots fan) were spent doing an extensive amount of traveling outside the country and trips to the casinos with his wife.
He is survived by his nephew Danny Porowski and his sister-in-law Mattie Dojka both of Longmeadow, MA. Edward was predeceased by his brother Victor, and his sister Stella Michonski.
Family and friends will gather during calling hours on Friday Dec. 23, 2016 from 9:00 to 11:00 a.m. at Browne Memorial Funeral Chaples, Enfield, CT, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial to be celebrated for Edward at 11:30 a.m. in St. Adalbert Church 90 Alden Ave. Enfield. Burial will then take place in St. Adalbert Cemetery Enfield.
