Alfred “Al” George Jacques, 83, of Enfield, entered into eternal life on Friday Nov. 6, 2015 at St. Francis Hospital & Medical Ctr., Hartford. He was the beloved husband of 57 years to Florence I. (Bessette) Jacques. Alfred was born on June 18, 1932 in Uxbridge, Massachusetts, the son of the late Andre and Eva (Lorzeau) Jacques. He had resided in Enfield for the past 49 years. Al served his country proudly with the U.S. Army during the Korean War.
He formerly owned and operated Al’s Citgo in Enfield for many years and retired from CT Transit Co. He was a member of the AMVETS Post #18 and the Enfield Elks Lodge #2222.
Besides his wife Florence, Al is also survived by his three children; Steven Jacques & Liza Dechira of West Brook, CT, Donald Jacques & wife Doris of Vernon and Christine Turcotte & husband Hank of Enfield, five beloved grandchildren; Matthew, Danielle, Marrisa, Tyler and Donald, Jr., his cherished great grandchildren; Victoria, Kailee, Robbie, Elyse and Raegan.
He leaves behind his siblings; Andrew Jacques of Casa Grande, AZ, Patricia Douquette of Uxbridge, MA and Michael Jacques of Webster, MA, along with many nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by a brother, Robert Jacques.
Relatives and friends may gather with his family during calling hours on Tuesday Nov. 10, 2015 from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m., an Elks Service will be conducted at 6:30 p.m. at Browne Memorial Funeral Chapels 43 Shaker Rd. Enfield. A Funeral Home Service will be held on Wednesday Nov. 11, 2015 at 11:00 a.m. with Fr. John Melnick officiating. Interment with military honors will follow in the Hazardville Cemetery, Enfield. Memorial donations in Al’s memory may be made to the DAV, P.O.
