Obituary for Rita D. Ouellet (DeSouza)

Rita D. Ouellet (DeSouza)
Rita D. (DeSouza) Ouellet, 94, of Enfield entered into eternal rest, on Sunday Oct. 11, 2015. Rita was the beloved wife of 42 years to the late Paul F. Ouellet. She was born on May 22, 1921 in Chicopee, MA to the late Ennocenceo and Edna (St. Jean) DeSouza and had resided in Enfield since 1955. Prior to retiring Rita was employed with Dynamic Control. Rita’s greatest interest was being fully engaged with her family’s lives.
Quilting and gardening were favorite hobbies which she did enthusiastically creating unique designs. She enjoyed making dozens of quilts choosing just the right fabrics to carefully craft. It gave her great pleasure to gift them to family and friends as well as people she barely knew.
Her garden arrangements were a source of pride and delighted many who came to see and enjoy them. Rita will always be remembered for her kindness and genuine concern for the less advantaged, especially children.
Rita is survived by her three sons and daughters-in-law; Peter & Christine Ouellet of Somers, Roger & JoAnn Ouellet of Voluntown and Anthony & Lynda Ouellet of Somers, her beloved grandson Nicholas P. Ouellet, loving granddaughter Julie Skogen, and two great-grandchildren Sydney & Sophia. She is also survived by her sister Margaret Schimpf of Windsor and her brother Philip DeSouza of Canton, CT, along with many nieces and nephews. Besides her husband and parents she was predeceased by her beloved grandson Jason M. Ouellet, a sister Eva Massaro and a brother Albert DeSouza.
The family extends their special thanks to the nursing staff and CNA’S of Blair Manor for their kind & comforting care.
There will be no calling hours. A Mass of Christian Burial in celebration of Rita’s life will be held on Friday Oct. 16, 2015 at 10:00 a.m. in Holy Family Church 23 Simon Rd.
