James P. Viveiros, 93, of Enfield entered into eternal life on Monday (October 15, 2012) at Johnson Memorial Hospital of Stafford. James was the beloved husband of 63 years to Catherine (Garvey) Viveiros and the son of the late Joseph and Mary (Silva) Viveiros. He was born April 15, 1919 in Fall River, Massachusetts and was resident of Enfield since 1959. James served his country honorably with the U.S. Army during WWII. He was employed with Colt Fire Arms in Hartford as a gun smith for 39 years prior to his retirement in 1984. James was member of the Knights of Columbus Council 50 Enfield and a past faithful navigator with the Rev. William Kilcoyne Assembly 4th Degree. He was also a member of Enfield Elks Lodge 2222.
Besides his wife Catherine, James is survived by his children Sharon Viveiros of Manchester and James “Jay” Viveiros and his wife Anne of East Windsor, his grandson Ryan Viveiros, a granddaughter Jayme Viveiros, and great grandson Declan Greer and many nieces and nephews. Along with his parent he is also predeceased by his sisters Mary Pacheco and Bertha Frias.
Relatives and friends may gather with his family on Wednesday (October 17, 2012) from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Browne Memorial Funeral Chapels 43 Shaker Road Enfield. Funeral services will be held on Thursday (October 18, 2012) with the funeral procession forming at 9:00 a.m. at the funeral home to St Martha Church, 214 Brainard Road, Enfield for a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 a.m. Internment with military honors will take place in St Patrick King Street Cemetery, Enfield.
